Vitamin B1 | Thiamine

Thiamine, or vitamin B1, is a water-soluble vitamin whose molecule contains pyrimidine and thiazole cycles. This vitamin can be produced by gut microflora, but only in insufficient amounts. It must therefore be received additionally through the diet.

Thiamine contributes to:

  • Normal energy-yielding metabolism
  • Normal nervous system function
  • Normal psychological function
  • Normal heart function
